Keith Eshelman
Private Mathematics Specialist Tutor |
Biography:
Mr. Eshelman has been good at math since his
earliest school days in Detroit, Michigan. He noticed this in the
sixth grade when he excelled in fractions. In seventh and eighth
grades he excelled in decimal and percentage fractions, basic
geometric figures, and complex story problems involving home,
commercial, industrial, and agricultural applications. In high
school he excelled in Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
Having done so well in math through high school, he was encouraged to
enter the university as a pre-engineering student. Due to the
mathematical nature of an engineering curriculum, he willingly agreed.
During the first three years at the university, he studied College
Algebra, Calculus I and II with Analytic Geometry, Calculus III with
Vectors, Calculus IV with Differential Equations, Theory of Matrices,
Applied Analysis I, Advanced Math for Engineers I and II; all courses
from the Department of Mathematics.
From the sixth grade through completion of studies at the university,
he only missed earning the "A" grade
twice concerning math, physics and engineering physics courses.
He received his Bachelor of Science
degree in Electrical
Engineering with Honors, from the Michigan State University in 1970. |

After finishing at the university, Mr. Eshelman spent time in active
training with the United States Army. Finishing his active training,
he obtained his first engineering assignment as an Associate Electrical
Engineer with the Control Data Corporation in 1971, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. There he was a member of a digital design team that
engineered computer terminals.
Seeking greater opportunity and responsibility, he left the Control Data
Corporation and Minneapolis in 1973 for the Signetics Corporation and
Chicago, Illinois. Over the next 25 years he worked for a variety of
companies. He was involved with the sale of electronic integrated
circuits and the electronic micro-processor based design of hospital x-ray
equipment, fast food restaurant kitchen equipment, vending machines with
internal robotics, currency recognition equipment, gas station cash
register and pump island equipment, and cellular telephone central office
switch gear.
In 1999, he
relocated from Chicago to Tampa, Florida to enjoy warm, sunny Florida.
He read about opportunities to fill in for the county schools’ math
teachers. He decided to substitute teach and thereby returned to one
of his favorite environments, mathematics class! For two years he
substituted and reviewed his math books. Seeking greater usage of his
talents, in 2002 he signed on as a math tutor, with a tutoring agency.
A few months later, he decided to offer his tutoring services directly
to the local students/ parents. Beginning in 2009, using high quality
webcam, video call technology, he offers tutoring sessions to
students/ parents anywhere in the USA.
